Theater

Laura Mernoff began her career as a scenic artist in New York.  Among many projects, she was a Charge Painter for Christmas windows for Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor’s. In addition to working at scenic studios in New York, she also was  a guest scenic artist with the Royal Opera Company of London  and spent summers as a Charge Painter at Theatre-by-the-Sea (RI). She later moved to New England to attend the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)  and earned a Masters degree in Architecture.  

She has designed scenery for the Charles River Creative Arts Program, the Jewish Theatre Ensemble at the Jewish Community Center of RI, the RISD stage, the Barker Playhouse, Johnson & Wales,  All Children’s Theatre and at Nathanael Greene Middle School.

She is a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829 as a Journeyman Scenic Artist(working as a Scenic and a Charge Painter on movies such as “The Clique”) and a member of International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) Studio Mechanics Local 481 (New England) in props and set-dressing.

 

Steel

Since 2006, Laura has trained in welding and cold-forging at The Steel Yard in Providence. She has completed 32 feet of a planned 40 foot metal outdoor mural and a “History of our School” steel sculpture for The Jewish Community Day School of Providence.
